WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), a Senate Budget Committee member, introduced 20 amendments today covering a wide array of priorities for North Dakotans and the American people to the 2021 Budget Resolution. The Senate is debating and voting on certain amendments throughout the day and will vote on the underlying resolution tonight.

“The budget process is a chance for members of Congress to advance their priorities,” said Senator Cramer. “While Senate Democrats push a litany of extreme liberal policies, we are offering multiple pieces of legislation to help the American people, with policies affecting jobs, energy, health care, and the sanctity of life. I urge the Senate to support our proposals.”

As a Senate Armed Services Committee member, Senator Cramer introduced amendments to protect our armed forces from any reductions in nuclear warheads or inter-continental ballistic missiles, or efforts to compromise our nuclear force deterrent. He also offered a proposal to prevent China from being able to spy on Americans. On energy, Senator Cramer wrote legislation to prohibit a carbon tax, increased regulatory mandates for states under the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act, or funding reductions for national parks or federal lands.

As a member of the Senate Banking Committee, he is offering legislation on firearms discrimination. Senator Cramer last Congress introduced the Freedom Financing Act, which would ensure large financial institutions cannot deny service to certain constitutionally-protected industries which are fully compliant with all laws and statutes.

On education, Senator Cramer introduced legislation to prevent federal funds from being used to forgive student loans.  For health care, Senator Cramer is leading efforts to ensure affordable access to insulin and to prohibit new mandatory health spending entitlement programs, such as Medicare for All.
